Dear
Alley,
What is the proper way to address a Female Superhero? Living and
working in New York City, I have opportunities, almost on a daily basis,
to meet Female Superheros and of course didn’t wish to offend them. What
is correct? Ms., Miss, your Superperson? Help!
Signed,
Confused
Dear
Little Miss Confused,
A female superhero is no different from anyone else, with one exception. She
is superior to you. I usually address such heroines as
"my nemesis" or "Goody Two Boots". But I suppose
you mean, does she have an exclusive title by virtue of her super-ness?
No. As always, a woman's title depends on her marital status
and her own personal preference.
My advise? Ask her how she would like to be addressed. Then,
ask yourself, is she worthy of this title? If so, use it.
If not, come up with the most offensive and inappropriate title your little
brain can conjure. And is she asks, tell her Alley Class sent you!
You're welcome,
Ms.
